Best dog training software

Best dog training software in 2026: seven options compared

There is no single best dog training software, because trainers run different businesses. This guide compares seven options using what each company says on its own website, so you can match a tool to the way you work. K9PN sells one of the options (GoHighLevel setup and custom builds), and we say so below.

The options

What each option says it does

Based on each company's own pages, reviewed October 2026. Features and prices change, so confirm on their sites before you buy.

PocketSuite (Dog Trainer Edition)

Scheduling with an online booking site where clients book, pay, fill out forms and sign contracts. Pet profiles, group class enrolment, board-and-train reservations, room and kennel tracking, a business phone number with text campaigns, and team and payroll tools. It lists a 30-day free trial and a paid setup add-on, with prices on a separate page.

Pawfinity

Booking, two-way text and email reminders, prepaid session credits, memberships and recurring appointments, client and pet profiles, report cards, route mapping for mobile trainers, and payments with point of sale. Works in a browser and in an app. It lists a 7-day free trial with no credit card and flat-rate pricing on a separate page.

HoneyBook

A general client-management platform that has a page for dog trainers: lead tracking, proposals that combine invoices, contracts and payments, scheduling, a client portal and automations. Its page lists card processing fees as low as 2.9% plus 25 cents and ACH at 1.5%, and a free trial.

OctopusPro

Scheduling and business-management software aimed at dog training teams: trainer calendars with a dispatch board, trainer matching by skills and service area, branded online booking, client and dog profiles, intake forms with digital signatures, reminders by email, text and WhatsApp, and payments through Stripe and PayPal. It lists a free trial, with pricing on a separate page.

Kyon CRM

A CRM built for dog trainers: leads and clients with their dogs, proposals, a calendar with group lesson attendance, invoicing and payments by PayPal or card, reports, email and text messaging, and tasks. When we reviewed it, its page said the beta was free.

Less Annoying CRM

A general small-business CRM. Its dog trainer guide shows how to set up custom fields such as dog name, breed, goals and package, pipeline stages from first consultation to ongoing training, and contact groups. Its page lists US$15 per user per month with a 30-day free trial.

GoHighLevel (set up by K9PN)

A CRM that runs leads, calendar, texting, forms and follow-up automations in one place. It is flexible rather than built only for dog training, so it needs to be set up for how a training business works, which is what K9PN does. K9PN also builds custom portals, booking and dashboards on top. This is our own service.

How to choose

Start with the job that costs you the most time, not the longest feature list. A few questions narrow the field quickly:

  • Are you a solo or mobile trainer, or do you run a facility with staff?
  • Do you need boarding or kennel tracking, group classes, or both?
  • Do you need to take payments and sign contracts online?
  • Is your bigger problem scheduling, or follow-up with leads who go quiet?
  • Do you want clients to have a portal with homework and progress?

Which kind of tool fits which trainer

Going by what each company says on its own pages, here is a way to shortlist.

  • Scheduling, payments and class or kennel management first: PocketSuite, Pawfinity and OctopusPro describe booking, payments and operations tools for training businesses.
  • Lead pipeline and follow-up first: Kyon CRM, Less Annoying CRM and HoneyBook describe contact management, pipelines and client communication. HoneyBook and Kyon also describe invoicing and payments.
  • One flexible system you can shape around your programmes: GoHighLevel, set up for training, which is where K9PN comes in.

Many trainers use one tool for scheduling and payments and another for marketing and follow-up. Count the monthly cost of the full stack, not just one subscription.

Where K9PN fits

K9PN is not a boxed app you subscribe to. We set up and automate GoHighLevel for dog trainers, build websites connected to it, and build custom pieces such as a client portal, booking with live availability and an owner dashboard. If you want a system shaped around your programmes, read about dog training software built around your business or see the Website + CRM package. If an off-the-shelf tool above already covers what you need, you may not need us.

Questions to ask before you buy

  • Can I export my client and dog records if I leave?
  • What are the payment processing fees, and are there per-user charges?
  • Does it send two-way texts, or only reminders?
  • How does it handle packages, deposits and renewals?
  • Who sets it up, and how long does that take?
  • What happens when I hire a second trainer or add a location?

How we compared

We read each company's own page in October 2026 and listed only what it states. We did not test the products, features can differ by plan, and no company paid to be included. Check current features and pricing on each company's site before you decide.

Common questions

What is the best dog training software?

It depends on your business. Shortlist by the job that costs you the most time: scheduling and payments, lead follow-up, or a system built around your programmes. Then use a free trial before you commit.

Is there free dog training software?

Several options list free trials on their own pages: PocketSuite 30 days, Pawfinity 7 days with no credit card, Less Annoying CRM 30 days, and HoneyBook and OctopusPro (length not stated on the pages we read). Kyon CRM described its beta as free when we reviewed it. Confirm current terms on each site.

Do I need a CRM or scheduling software?

Scheduling and payment tools cover bookings, invoices and reminders. A CRM focuses on tracking leads and following up. Some products cover both, and many trainers combine two tools.

Can I use GoHighLevel as dog training software?

Yes, once it is set up for a training business with a pipeline, calendar, forms and automations. K9PN sets up and automates GoHighLevel for dog trainers.

How current is this comparison?
